Transgender and non-binary Girl Scouts in the United States have sold more than 71,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies during the current cookie season. The sales show growing public support for transgender youth.

Erin Reed, a journalist, started an initiative in 2022 when she created a list after learning that Girl Scouts of America officially allowed trans girls to be members in 2015. Reed started the list because she wanted to buy some cookies.

It wasn’t an easy feat tracking down trans members as Reed had hoped. This led her to ask her followers on social media for possible answers. Her followers had a positive response to the initiative. As more people caught on, the list grew and grew.

Reed also said that she wants to uplift trans kids just to make their days a little bit better because they’ve already got enough to deal with. She mentioned that many of these kids were in red states. What began with only a few scouts has expanded to nearly 200 individuals included this season.

As of late January, the scouts on the list had collectively sold more than 71,000 boxes. At an average price of about six dollars per box, the sales represent hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue. Like other Girl Scout cookie proceeds, the funds remain with local councils and troops and are used to support activities such as camping trips, travel, skill-building programs, and community service projects.

The 2026 Girl Scout cookie season is still ongoing, and sales are expected to continue in the coming weeks. Organizers say interest in the list remains high, suggesting that total sales may rise further before the season ends.
