Just before the end of Pride Month, 27-year-old Filipino-American transgender woman Kataluna Enriquez was crowned Miss Nevada USA. This makes her the first openly trans woman to compete for the title of Miss USA this coming November.

During the Miss Nevada pageant, she bested 21 other candidates while donning a rainbow-inspired gown.

Among those who celebrated her victory were Miss Trans Global 2020 Mela Habijan, and Filipino-American model and trans rights advocate Geena Rocero.
