Actor Pedro Pascal has publicly reaffirmed his support for the transgender community, sharing a strong statement on Instagram that has sparked both praise and criticism.
On February 21, Pascal posted a quote that read, “A world without trans people has never existed and never will.” The message quickly gained attention, with thousands of followers responding in the comments. While many voiced their support for the actor, others criticized him, with some even stating they would unfollow him due to his stance.
Pascal did not back down. In a pinned comment, he reinforced his position, condemning discrimination against transgender individuals.
“I can’t think of anything more vile and small and pathetic than terrorizing the smallest, most vulnerable community of people who want nothing from you, except the right to exist,” he wrote.
Pascal’s advocacy for the transgender community is personal. His sister, Lux Pascal, came out as transgender in 2021 in an interview with the Chilean publication Ya magazine. Lux, an actress and model, described her transition as a natural process within their family.
“For everyone in my family, my transition has been something very natural. Almost something they were waiting to happen,” she said. She also credited her brother for being a key source of support throughout her journey.
“He has been an important part of this. He is also an artist and has been a guide. He was one of the first to give me the things that formed my identity,” she explained.
Pedro Pascal has previously spoken about his sister in interviews, expressing admiration for her strength. In a conversation with Esquire, he emphasized that while he prefers not to speak on her behalf, he stands by her unconditionally.
“She is and has always been one of the most powerful people and personalities I’ve ever known,” he said. “My protective side is lethal, but I need her more than she needs me.”
Pascal’s recent Instagram post adds to his history of vocal support for LGBTQ+ rights. Known for his roles in The Mandalorian and The Last of Us, the actor has used his platform to speak out on social and political issues. While his latest post has drawn criticism from some, it has also reinforced his reputation as an outspoken advocate for marginalized communities.
Despite the backlash, Pascal appears unwavering in his stance, continuing to use his influence to champion inclusivity and equality.
