Transgender influencer Briel Adams-Wheatley and her husband, Adam Adams-Wheatley, marked their fifth wedding anniversary by celebrating with a second wedding ceremony that reflected the life they share today.
The couple held the ceremony on June 13 in West Bountiful, Utah, in the same backyard where they were first married five years ago. Rather than a legal remarriage, the event gave Briel the chance to experience a wedding as her authentic self after coming out as transgender in 2023.
“We already made those vows five years ago,” Adam said in an interview. “This was just a chance for her to have those beautiful wedding photos and memories as the woman she is today.”
Around 150 family members and friends attended the celebration. The couple kept the event simple, decorating the venue with items from their own home while friends helped arrange the flowers. They said they wanted the day to feel relaxed and focused on spending time with the people they love.
One of the most memorable parts of the ceremony was Briel’s wedding dress. She wore a corseted gown that was specially altered to fit her body. Briel was born with Hanhart syndrome, a rare condition that left her without arms or legs. Her niece did her makeup, while a local hairstylist styled her hair for the occasion.
The ceremony itself lasted less than three minutes. Instead of writing new vows, the couple chose to reaffirm the promises they had already made to each other. Afterward, guests enjoyed cookies, fruit, lemonade, and a simple vanilla wedding cake before the celebration ended with the couple jumping into a swimming pool together, recreating a fun moment from their first wedding.
Briel and Adam met on Tinder in 2020 and married the following year. Since Briel came out as transgender, the couple has openly shared their journey online, speaking about the importance of love, communication, and supporting one another through life’s changes.
Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, Briel was adopted by a family in Utah as an infant. She has since built a large following on social media by sharing beauty content, everyday life, and her experiences as a transgender woman living with a limb difference. Through her videos, she continues to raise awareness about both disability and transgender visibility.
