Trans model and actress Hunter Schafer from the hit HBO series “Euphoria” stars in the upcoming Hunger Games film. This upcoming film, A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, is a prequel to the Hunger Games book and film series. It’s based on the 2020 prequel novel written by the same author Suzanne Collins.

Schafer plays Tigris Snow, the infamous stylist of the stars. The first trailer for the prequel came out on April 28, giving audiences a glimpse 64 years before the original Katniss’ Panem.

The film stars Rachel Zegler as Lucy Gray Baird, Tom Blyth as young President Coriolanus Snow, and Viola Davis as Dr. Volumnia Gaul. The plot revolves around the 10th Annual Hunger Games.

When the trailer came out, fans took to Twitter to express their excitement, especially at the sight of Schafer’s character being played by a trans woman.

“It’s huge that an openly trans woman has been casted to play a cis female role,” one Twitter user said.

The Hunger Games: A Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is set to be released on November 17th, 2023.
